Inmates a in Louisiana jail have been given the chance to participate in rodeos and to set up stalls to sell their arts and crafts to the public. Some are concerned about the prisioners’ well being (since they are not offered training before participating in the rodeos), but many of the atendees show little sympathy, and many prisoners see it as a brief moment of freedom since most of them are serving life sentences. Do you think it is a good idea?

Madrid

The Madrid Council has designed plans to raise the price of public parking, ban trucks in the city centre during the day, create more pedestrian zones and bring in more tow-trucks to reduce traffic in the city centre by 2020. The idea is to increase air quality and bring it in line with European Union pollution parameters. Is this fair to the driver? Do you think there is too much traffic in the city centre?

Culture

The Eurovision Song Contest was held in Copenhagen over the weekend and the winner was Austrian cross-dresser Conchita Wurst (real name Tom Neuwirth), who received a total of 290 points. Technology

The United Nations is holding a meeting in Geneva this week to debate the idea of killer robots. The debate is about programming robots to function as autonomous lethal weapon systems, which would enable them to identify and eliminate targets without any human input. Some are concerned about the implications and safety of such robots, suggesting that they could be hacked and reprogrammed for more malicious purposes. Does the idea of such robots concern you?
